Choose an answer, explore the explanation, and see why the other options are less suitable. Three short scenarios. No sign-in required.
Design Solutions for Organizational ComplexityTask 1.1 · Architect network connectivity strategies.
1. Scaling hybrid connectivity across many VPCs
A company has dozens of VPCs in one AWS Region across multiple accounts and an on-premises data center connected through AWS Direct Connect. The architecture team wants centralized, transitive VPC connectivity and a single scalable path between the VPCs and the existing Direct Connect connection. Which design best meets these requirements?
- Create individual VPC peering connections between every VPC and separate private virtual interfaces for each VPC.
- Attach the VPCs to an AWS Transit Gateway and associate the transit gateway with a Direct Connect gateway.
- Create an internet gateway in every VPC and route hybrid traffic through public Elastic IP addresses.
- Attach one virtual private gateway to each VPC and configure a separate Site-to-Site VPN between every VPC.
Answer and full explanation
Correct answer: B — Use AWS Transit Gateway with a Direct Connect gateway association.
Why B is correct
AWS Transit Gateway provides a hub for connecting many VPCs and supports transitive routing between attached networks according to its route tables. A Direct Connect gateway can be associated with a transit gateway so the existing Direct Connect connection can reach VPCs attached to that transit gateway. AWS documents this pattern for managing one Direct Connect path to multiple VPCs in the same Region. SAP-C02 Task 1.1 explicitly requires evaluating connectivity options for multiple VPCs and for on-premises-to-cloud integration. This design avoids a large peering mesh while centralizing routing and hybrid connectivity.
Why the other options are less suitable
- A — Full-mesh VPC peering: VPC peering is non-transitive, so many VPCs require numerous point-to-point connections and route updates. Separate Direct Connect connectivity per VPC also increases operational complexity as the environment grows.
- C — Public internet routing: Internet gateways and public addresses do not provide the requested private hybrid architecture. They also bypass the existing Direct Connect design rather than extending it centrally.
- D — Separate VPNs for every VPC: Site-to-Site VPN can provide hybrid connectivity, but duplicating VPN connectivity for dozens of VPCs is harder to scale and operate. It also does not create the requested centralized transitive VPC hub.
Key takeaway: Transit Gateway plus a Direct Connect gateway is a scalable hub-and-spoke pattern for connecting many VPCs to on-premises networks.

2. Keeping a globally distributed cart service writable
A global ecommerce application stores shopping carts in DynamoDB. Users in two AWS Regions must read and write locally, and the service must remain available for writes if either Region becomes unavailable. The team does not want to build or operate its own cross-Region replication process. Which architecture best meets the requirements?
- Use one DynamoDB table in a single Region and create cross-Region backups every hour.
- Use two independent DynamoDB tables and synchronize them with a nightly AWS Glue job.
- Use a DynamoDB global table with replica tables in both Regions and route users to the local Region.
- Use one DynamoDB table with a global secondary index and place the index in the second Region.
Answer and full explanation
Correct answer: C — Use a DynamoDB global table across both Regions.
Why C is correct
DynamoDB global tables provide fully managed, multi-Region, multi-active replication. Each replica can serve local reads and writes, and DynamoDB automatically propagates changes to the other Regions without requiring a custom replication system. AWS specifically positions global tables for high availability and business continuity across Regions. SAP-C02 Task 2.2 includes configuring data and database replication and designing architectures that remain available during disruptions. Routing application traffic to the nearest healthy Region therefore satisfies the local-access and Regional-failure requirements.
Why the other options are less suitable
- A — Single-Region table and backups: Backups protect data for recovery but do not provide a writable application database in another Region during an outage. Restoring from backup also introduces recovery time and potential data loss.
- B — Independent tables with nightly synchronization: This creates long replication gaps and requires the team to own conflict handling and synchronization logic. It does not meet the requirement for managed, continuously available multi-Region writes.
- D — Global secondary index: A DynamoDB global secondary index belongs to the same table and Region as its base table. It is an alternate access pattern, not a cross-Region disaster-recovery replica.
Key takeaway: DynamoDB global tables provide managed multi-Region, multi-active data replication for applications that need local reads and writes during Regional disruptions.
Accelerate Workload Migration and ModernizationTask 4.2 · Determine the optimal migration approach for existing workloads.
3. Rehosting a large server estate quickly
A company must leave a data center before its lease expires. Hundreds of physical and VMware servers host applications that cannot be redesigned before the deadline. The company wants continuous replication, test launches before cutover, and a lift-and-shift migration to Amazon EC2 with minimal application changes. Which service best fits the requirement?
- Use AWS Application Migration Service to continuously replicate the source servers and launch them on Amazon EC2.
- Use AWS Database Migration Service to replicate every server operating system and application disk to Amazon EC2.
- Use AWS DataSync to convert each source server into an Amazon Machine Image and perform application cutover.
- Use AWS Snowball Edge only to transfer server disks and automatically recreate the running application environment.
Answer and full explanation
Correct answer: A — Use AWS Application Migration Service for the rehost migration.
Why A is correct
AWS Application Migration Service is designed for highly automated lift-and-shift, or rehost, migrations of physical, virtual, and cloud servers to AWS. It continuously replicates source servers into a staging area and supports test launches before final cutover. At cutover, the service converts and launches the replicated servers as Amazon EC2 instances with minimal changes to the applications. SAP-C02 Task 4.2 explicitly includes selecting an appropriate application transfer mechanism and lists AWS Application Migration Service among the relevant migration tools. This matches the fixed data-center-exit deadline and the requirement to avoid redesigning hundreds of applications before migration.
Why the other options are less suitable
- B — AWS Database Migration Service: AWS DMS is intended for database migration and replication rather than replicating complete server operating systems and application volumes. It could be part of a database-specific migration but does not rehost the whole server estate.
- C — AWS DataSync: DataSync transfers file and object data efficiently between supported storage systems and AWS storage services. It does not automatically convert general-purpose source servers into complete EC2 application environments.
- D — Snowball Edge only: Snowball can help move large datasets when network transfer is impractical. By itself, it does not provide the continuous block-level replication, test launches, and automated server conversion required for this migration.
Key takeaway: For time-constrained server rehosting with minimal application change, use the AWS migration service built for continuous server replication and EC2 cutover.

Your questions, answered.
Which Solutions Architect Professional exam do these questions target?
These questions target AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional SAP-C02, not the announced SAP-C03 update. SAP-C02 remains available as of October 3, 2026, but AWS says its last test date is November 16, 2026 and SAP-C03 general delivery begins November 17. If your exam is scheduled near that transition, check the code on your booking before purchasing version-specific preparation.
Who is SAP-C02 practice intended for?
It is intended for experienced solutions architects who design complex AWS environments across applications, projects, accounts, and hybrid networks. AWS recommends at least two years of experience designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions. Candidates should be comfortable evaluating requirements, choosing architectures for security, resilience, performance, and cost, and providing architectural guidance across complex organizations rather than relying only on individual-service knowledge.
How should I combine SAP-C02 practice with hands-on study?
Use practice questions alongside the official guide and architecture exercises involving AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, IAM, Route 53, multi-Region databases, disaster recovery, CloudFormation, containers, serverless services, storage, cost tools, and migration services. SAP-C02 is Professional level, so focus on trade-offs among multiple technically valid solutions and how business constraints change the preferred architecture.
What should I do when I answer a SAP-C02 question incorrectly?
Use the explanation to identify which architectural requirement you overlooked, then revisit the corresponding SAP-C02 task statement. Determine whether the decisive factor was organizational scale, networking, security, RTO/RPO, reliability, performance, cost, deployment, migration, or modernization. Compare every distractor against the scenario’s requirements instead of memorizing the answer letter. Practice performance can expose weak areas, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed prediction of the official result.
What question formats appear on the official SAP-C02 exam?
AWS lists multiple-choice and multiple-response questions. The current guide says 65 questions are scored and 10 are unscored, with unscored items not identified to the candidate. These three preview questions deliberately use single-answer multiple choice because that is the interaction supported by this widget, so they do not reproduce official multiple-response items or imply that every official interaction is included in the paid ExamsDigest product.
Does completing this practice earn AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional?
No. Completing an ExamsDigest practice product does not award the AWS certification or replace AWS’s official certification process. Practice access, scheduling SAP-C02, taking the official exam through AWS’s testing process, and receiving the credential are separate activities. Because SAP-C02 is approaching retirement, confirm that your scheduled exam is SAP-C02 rather than SAP-C03 before relying on version-specific preparation.
